Jumboking is western India’s largest chain of homegrown Quick Service Restaurants, incepted on 23rd August 2001 by Dheeraj Gupta.

Jumboking, with its delicious vegetarian menu featuring burgers, thick shakes, softy, and fries, is the people’s favourite in the on-the-go eating space, among college students and young working professionals, with 110+ outlets in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Delhi, Lucknow, and Hyderabad.

The outlets serve the widest range of vegetarian burgers, thick shakes, fries, and softy. The company leverages technology to propel its customer-facing and internal control systems and has delivery tie-ups with Swiggy and Zomato to service out-of-store orders. It is a pioneer in franchising in India.


Dheeraj Gupta has set up the largest Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) chain in Western India, Jumboking, with 100+ stores in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Delhi, Lucknow, and Hyderabad.

He started the first Jumboking store, now a household name, in Aug 2001. It serves standardised flavours of the Indian burger- a branded variation of Mumbai’s local street food – in an organised QSR format, across high footfall locations. The outlets cater to an on-the-go audience comprising young working professionals, students, and anyone conscious of hygienic street food. Jumboking has delivery tie ups with Swiggy and Zomato, that enable ordering-in as well.

Dheeraj’s approach has been pioneering, with an unrelenting focus on innovation. His innovator tag is supported amply by his dedication to training, which ensures operational excellence. His methodical and meticulous approach to product and service has been vital to scaling up. He runs a tight ship with all aspects of the business standardised, measured, and documented. This, coupled with oodles of resilience and humility, has made Dheeraj one of the most respected names in the Indian Food Industry.

He is one of India’s most vocal advocates of franchising; as a tool to deliver and maintain asset light models in the new economy. Today, he serves as a mentor and invests in organisations that require scale-up support, enabling them to with several industry papers on franchising to his credit. It’s not just about the grey matter for this pioneer. Dheeraj is a regular marathoner, (has already run eight editions of SCMM Mumbai, and Hyderabad Triathlon 2015), an avid reader of business biographies, with a special interest in incubating young QSR models; as he believes that there will be at least a dozen Indian QSR brands which will join the billion-dollar club over the next decade.
